“ Excellent little cafe. We had breakfast. The prices are higher than we normally pay for breakfast food. But you can see why you pay more here. The food is top quality produce. Very tasty. Would highly recommend. ”
“ I love it when indoor markets have a cafe because you can always guarantee delicious well-cooked food. This proved to be the case today when we visited the bustling Cafe Cenno in Durham Market Hall. The cafe is on a mezzanine floor so you look out across the top of the market stalls. It has a lot of seating but was very busy so we were lucky to get a table. We went in for lunch, my husband having steak pie, peas and gravy whilst I opted for the light option roast dinner with beef. The food was delicious: beef so tender with lovely gravy and the best mash you could imagine. We managed to share a Mars bar slice as all of the other cakes and desserts were enormous! Proper Yorkshire tea made the meal complete. If you are looking for good quality home cooking, well prepared and generous portions this is a must visit. It is very rare that we visit Durham but this will definitely be on our list of great places to eat. ”
“ A cafe at the balcony of the market. Food was hot and good. Price was reasonable for the big portion. Seats were comfortable. Toilet was not far from. Good. ”
“ Took elderly parents, for a cuppa and sandwich. Upstairs , but has a lift available. Nice menu, various options. Had the quiche, it was excellent. Friendly, helpful staff, not expensive would recommend. ”
“ Sat in for lunch. We have called into this lovely cafe on the mezzanine above Durham market before for full english breakfasts, which never disappoints for the past 15 years. Food is always cooked fresh to order, and a pot of tea for 2, which provides a refill for both teacups. Five of us called in today. We ordered a full English breakfast with fried bread, a bowl of carrot & coriander soup with a slice of farmhouse style bread, a large fish (from Whitby) & chips portion with peas, bread & butter, which is part of the dish. a fruit scone & two slices of old school cake. two pots of tea for two and a 500ml coke zero. We waited 15-20 minutes for the two main dishes and a further 5 minutes for the soup. Food all cooked well & presentation excellent. Old school cake soft to bite and very tasty just how it sits in my memories of this classic dessert. No complaints from the rest of our table. Our food bill came to 51.65 so there is not much difference here to cafe prices at home. Recommended. . ”
“ Great market cafe. Glad I found this lovely wee cafe while browsing in the Market hall in Durham, up a couple of flights of stairs ( but there is a lift too)..Give your table number when putting in your order and paying...Staff bring your food when ready...I had their lovely fry up with green tea. Scrumptious, will definitely be back when in Durham... ”
“ Lovely place to have lunch - inside but still open to the market below so pretty chill. Great veggie breakfast, decent tuna jacket, really nice kids pizza, nice chips, coffee ok, prices not cheap but not crazy. Steak pie and also fish n chips looked amazing. Atmosphere ok - nice looking at the old surroundings buildings and old fashioned roof but not very vibey. In our the cold though :) ”
“ Wifey out while G at golf, looking for a nice breakfast so called into Cafe Cenno which has been in Durham Market for many years and has a great reputation for good, home cooked food. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. I chose the lighter option of the 5 item breakfast as the full English looked huge! Drinks are done at the counter and there was a short wait for the food while it was freshly prepared. Everything was hot and tasty, breakfast came with a round of toast or fried bread if you prefer. Pot of tea was generously sized for one and counter was stuffed with delicious looking pies, cakes and sweet treats. Cafe overlooks the bustling market and has a nice vibe. Daily papers available and well situated for access to toilets and lifts. G very jealous as golf score not worth reporting! However he soon cheered up when I revealed that I had brought home two cherry and walnut scones which went down very well. ”
